Mass Media 2007 HUM121

Paris Hilton lets talk about her again and again and again. How important to society is she really? The mass media coverage of her is enormous with no signs of stopping. How did she become so popular anyway besides her parents owning the Hilton hotels? What does society find so fascinating about Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Brittany Spears, Angilina Jolie and ect? Are these famous people that interesting that we forget who we are and what is going on in the real world around us? Since taking this class (actually before that) I became self consciously aware at what the media was doing to me. It really had a hold on me as far as some of the news, like when Paris was given good behavior time. I said to myself good behavior time for what being caught for driving on suspended license, driving while intoxicated and being late to court? Then when the sheriff let her out after one day I knew then that money controlled the judicial system. Now after she went back kicking and screaming like a baby because a judge actually stood up and said in not so many words that famous people with money are not above the law she is being again noticed as a strong woman and a good example for taking her more the deserved punishment. If you ask me her punishment was way too short. If it was any ordinary joe we would have not recieved such a leineint sentence. Well enough about Paris, look im complaining about the her getting too much coverage and her I am wasting my time giving my opinon. I am now going to go spend my time more wisely by enjoying my 3 children who deserve my attn.
